During the Christmas holidays, window shopping in New York City is actually window sightseeing. Stores, reflective of this festive season (and, naturally, of their commerce), adorn their windows with gorgeously impressive displays that are sure to capture the eyes and the generous emotions of passers-by.
Even though FAO Schwarz is famous for its toy-themed displays (toys that are rather works of art than toys), Macy’s is certainly no slouch when decking out their windows with colorful and fantastic playthings, aglow in a tintinnabulation of sparkling lights. This was the place for me when I was a child: felling something like Tiny Tim dreaming through a wonderland of marvelous enticements that few families could afford. (The expression on the face of the little girl in the photo speaks volumes.)
Then there’s Bloomingadale’s showcase windows, for the more extravagant and sophisticated shopper, which feature fairy tale characters and scenes bathed in luminescent lighting. And, of course, Saks Fifth Avenue with the focus on cosmopolitan style and decorum, its windows a blend of the richly urbane (photo: heading) and the brisk Yuletide. These are just a few of the more popular window displays throughout the city, decking the streets with holly and delight each year. More on these displays could be found at the following link:

Wow those are fascinating!! *goggles.* New York is the epitome of cosmopolitan. Here one can go to San Francisco to see the sights but I rather doubt they’re anything quite so spectacular. Last year my Mom and I spent a day in San Francisco for my birthday. We just walked around, went to some upper scale malls (Saks Fifth Avenue had no salespeople to spare for two solid, sensibly dressed ladies, lol!) and found a jewel of a shop selling expensive knicknacks~Swarovski crystals included.
