Commemorating D-Day: a time of True Heroes; a time for politicians to sit down, shut up, and go away.

My grandpa was there; he was an engineer who helped build the pontoons they used to land heavy vehicles. To do this he had to work chest deep in water, while under fire. I’m very, very proud of him.
Definitely not a day for politics!

My father was there: driving a tank through horrific gunfire, but he and his crew suffered little injury. However, at what would later become the Battle of the Bulge, they were hit by a shell that killed two of his buddies (the tank commander’s head blown off). They were taken prisoner and spent the rest of the war in a German POW camp.
Thanks , Kate…you have very good reason to be proud of your grandfather, as I’m proud of my father–and all the Allies who saved the world from Hitler’s Evil.
