Thanks, Suzann, but, as you can see, I had nothing to do with this post outside of copying/ pasting the photo and quote. The image absolutely struck me with its haunting/ eerie overtones…I just had to post it here.
The waters are indeed treacherous along NYC beaches and many people (especially kids) have drowned over the past 100 or so years. At night, the danger is increases ten-fold when not only can a rip-tide or undercurrent pull you under but a 6-/ 7-foot breaker could approach unseen through the darkness and similarly kill you.
